Doralyn Maxwell

Doralyn Maxwell, 79, of Ft. Pierre, died Wednesday, June 6 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Memorial Service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, June 9 at Isburg Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Bishop officiating

Doralyn (Silka) Maxwell was born on Feb.14th, 1933, in Pasadena, Ca. to Ernest and Violet Silka. She was a graduate of San Diego High School, and worked for Convair/General Dynamics and Loral in San Diego, Ca., for many years. Dory married Francis (Frank) Maxwell, on May 29th, 1960, in Las Vegas, NV. Dory moved with Frank to Pierre in 1963 to join Frank’s father Darlow, in the family business, Maxwell’s Music Service. They moved to, Montana, and then to Phoenix in 1973, returning for visits to Pierre, and moved back to Pierre in 2002. After Dory’s husband died in 2004, she moved to San Diego, and then moved to Ft. Pierre in 2006. Dory loved music and dancing, bowling, reading, doing word puzzles, and computers. Dory felt herself to be very fortunate to have many wonderful friends, in many states.

Dory was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Violet Silka, her sister Linda Louise Collier, her husband Frank Maxwell, her daughter Kathryn (Katy) Coleman, and her son Charles L. Rowland.

Dory is survived by her daughter-in-law Louella Wooley Rowland of Moscow, Tn., her son-in-law, Tudor Coleman of Denver, Co., sister- in-law Patricia (Ed) DeVere of Clark, her Aunt Dorothy Halajian of Watertown, and special cousins, Diane (Richard) Knutson of Summit, and Donna (Mark) DePerte of Black Hawk, and special friends, Donna Welch, and Clyde and Lavonne Pietz.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
